Staring a game can be very simple.   A 'double-click' on the 'Challenge Maze' file will launch the software.   Starting a game is done by clicking on buttons or typing keyboard keys.   The same is true for ending games.
This page will will not cover how to 'load' a game that has already been saved.   To learn about that, visit the Save & Load Page.
After launching the Challenge Maze Software the following buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen.   Feel free to press F11 to expand the software window to fill the full screen.   F11 will also make the software window return to its smaller size.
The 'New Game' button can be selected by clicking it or pressing ALT+N (hold down ALT and press N).   If you press ALT while any button is visible on screen, the button will show an underline beneath one of the letters.   The is the letter that should be pressed with ALT to select the button.   The 'New Game' button will show N underlined if ALT is pressed.
After selecting the 'New Game' button, the screen will show the following input options.
A maze can be selected from the 'Maze Type' drop down menu.
A challenge level can be selected from the 'Challenge' drop down menu.   Challenge levels will only affect certain numbers in some maze challenges.   In those mazes, the higher the challenge level, the bigger the numbers will be in the challenges.   In some mazes the challenge level will have no effect at all.   In the 'Filling Cube Spaces' maze, some numbers will be affected.
Finally, names can also be entered.
Now when the 'Start' button is clicked the first maze room (if the 'Filling Cube Mazes' option was selected) should look like the following image.
Ending a game can happen in any maze room a player chooses except when a player is facing a challenge.   Ending a game can also happen when a player leaves through an exit of a maze.   If other players are still finding their way through the maze, their games will continue.   When all players have finished a maze the Challenge Maze Software will automatically return to the 'Title Screen'.
Be careful when ending a game.   The Challenge Maze Game does not automatically save your progress.   If a game is ended without saving it, the game can be lost.   Saving a game is covered on the Save & Load Page.
For a player to end a game whenever they choose, that player should press the F4 key on the keyboard.   The following button will appear at the top of the screen.
Selecting the 'End Game' button will lead to the second menu for ending a game.
The first button is a reminder that it might be a good idea to save the game first.   Selecting the 'End Now' button will lead a player back to the 'Title Screen'.
